Water Treatment

Water is one of the most precious resources on earth. Massive oceans and seas consisting of this critical element cover more than 70% of the planet’s surface. However, this is predominantly salt water which on average contains approximately 3.5% salinity. This means that every kilogram of seawater holds 35grams of dissolved salts such as sodium and chloride, which renders the water unsuitable for sustaining terrestrial life.

The remaining water, found in freshwater lakes and dams, that is suitable to sustain terrestrial life is often polluted and unfit for human and other consumption, and as such needs treatment either by natural or artificial means.

Waterways are living entities in the sense that they are, besides water, made up of millions of micro-organisms and nutrients, and are constantly changing and exchanging with their environment.

Unfortunately today, many of these changes are for the worse, and there is a continual degradation and impoverishment of the world's waterways.
